There were some common terms used during the years of prohibition, they include:
- boiled as an oil
- loaded to the muzzle
- corked
- burning with a blue flame
- speakeasies ~ elegant private clubs
- bootlegging~ when people snuch alcohol and sold it to others when it was illegal to sell it
- smuggler~ This did not necessarily mean the same as a bootlegging, usually smuggling just consisted of sneaking alcohol across borders
